Welcome to Plas Uchaf Country Guest House on the Shropshire/Powys border.

We can promise you a warm welcome and attentive service whilst you relax in the comfortable and gracious surroundings of our Queen Anne house which nestles into a hillside overlooking the Tanat Valley.

Premier rooms reduced to £75 a night for two people sharing including breakfast. Free afternoon tea and cake on arrival, available for any two nights or more from Monday to Wednesday. Normal rates apply for Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

ABOUT US

Plas Uchaf is an imposing early 18th century brick house set on the lower slopes of Llwyn Bryn-Dinas providing a spectacular backdrop to the house. Plas Uchaf means "the place above" which is perfect for our house on the hill. The house is set in six acres of grounds and is arranged over three floors, all offering splendid views of rolling fields and pastures studded with mature oaks and conifers rising from the Tanat valley. In the past Plas Uchaf has been used as a dower house, a vicarage and a residential home.

DINING WITH US

We enjoy our food and always use quality local produce whenever possible. Breakfasts are served n the dining room from 7.30am to 9.00am. Of course, individual arrangements can always be made to suit your needs. Our sideboard is filled with a wide choice of cereals, fresh fruits, compotes and juices which you can follow up with a hearty Plas Uchaf cooked breakfast.

There are also plenty of pubs within a 20 minute drive. If you prefer to eat in, we are happy to provide a meal provided we have 24hrs notice. We source the best ingredients for simple, home style food. The following options are available:

All prices are per room per night, with B&B for two people sharing.

Premier Rooms - spacious with comfortable furnishings with super-king size, king-size or twin beds. £90
Premier Garden Room - ground floor access which is ideal for the less able guest and also ideal for guests who wish to bring their dog. £90
Standard Double Rooms - these rooms are on the second floor. Ensuite bathroom with shower - £75
Standard Twin Room - this room is on the first floor. Private bathroom, with bath & over bath shower - £70
Standard Single Room - this room is on the first floor. Private bathroom, with bath & over bath shower - £52.50
Single occupancy and child rates available. Check in time is from 3pm. Check out is by 11am.

SURROUNDINGS

Guests are able to use a spacious, comfortable lounge with a cosy wood burning stove. There are plenty of books to borrow and browse through and a fully licensed bar. During the summer French windows open out onto the lawn where you can sit and drink in the view. Explore the paths that lead through different areas of the garden or play a game of croquet or tennis during the summer months.

Plas Uchaf sits on the English/Welsh borders and provides the perfect location to explore the hidden treasures of north Shropshire, Powys and the Snowdonia National Park. Market towns, majestic lakes, castles, canals and beautiful countryside are all within 30 minutes drive of Plas Uchaf and the attractions of Chester and Shrewsbury can be reached within an hour.
